About Me
Chris Nibley, CPA
Founder of Nibley Financial, former Marine Corps infantryman, and dedicated father of two.
Hi, I'm Chris Nibley, founder of Nibley Financial. After getting a bachelor's and master's in accounting, I started my career as a CPA at PriceWaterhouse Coopers in Los Angeles, working with Fortune 500 companies. It was great experience but I couldn't help feeling like a small gear in a massive machine, in other words, redundant! So, after a couple of years I started looking for something a little smaller, in terms of clients and location.
I moved smaller and smaller until finding my groove working with small business owners and individuals – where the rubber meets the road, so to speak. At this level, every dollar matters and I felt like I could actually make an impact with my work. I then moved back to Utah and started my own practice in 2018 and it wasn't long until I realized that I could provide exponentially greater impact for my clients by integrating financial advising and investment management with my tax practice.
On the personal side, it's pretty standard: I have two daughters, love the outdoors, reading, long walks on the beach, etc. Probably the only interesting thing about me is that before starting my career in business, I was a Marine Corps infantryman, and spent more than three years on the ground in Iraq. Semper Fi. Pretty strange transition to go from digging fighting holes to the finance world, but that's a whole other story!

The Fiduciary Oath
A commitment to always putting your interests first
Five Core Principles
- To always put my client's best interests before my own
- To act with prudence; that is, with the skill, care, diligence, and good judgment of a professional
- To not mislead my clients and to provide conspicuous, full and fair disclosures of all important facts
- To avoid conflicts of interest
- To fully disclose and fairly manage, in my client's favor, any unavoidable conflicts
What This Means In Practice
- To invest my own money the same way I invest my client's money
- To have one fee schedule for all clients
- To be an expert in business and personal taxes as well as the investment universe
- To be fully independent so that I am not incentivized, or restricted, to offer specific investments or products to my clients
